Mimi Chakraborty is all geared up with her upcoming release Khela Jawkhon. Billed as an action thriller, the film is directed by Arindam Sil and also features Arjun Chakrabarty, Susmita Chatterjee, Anindya Chatterjee, and others. The film delved into Urmi’s (played by Mimi) traumatic part.

Mimi – among the leading actresses in Tollywood – came from Jalpaiguri and took the industry by storm. She started with Rituparno Ghosh’s Gaaner Oparey and climbed the success ladder in no time. Talking about her initial days at an event, she recalled that her journey was not smooth.

According to a report on Anandabazar online, Mimi said that people have some perceptions of the film world. While many people see the grandeur, there are people who think it to be a dark world behind all the glitz and glamour. Mimi said that she faced judgements and her parents were teased and trolled because of her career.

The actress was revisiting those memories coming to the promo of a film. Mimi said, “Many used to come to our place to tell my mother that their daughters also got offers from the film world but they would not allow them to make a career in this industry as ‘no one should go into this world’.” Often her parents were trolled by neighbours and relatives. “Someone said, ‘Actually her daughter has no quality and that is why she went to acting’. I also heard that I got the offers because of my romantic connections with others. However, after so many years the picture is completely different.”

Mimi completed her first Hindi-language film with Nandita Roy and Siboprosad Mukherjee just a few months back. The film is a remake of the director duo’s Bengali drama Posto. Paresh Rawal will be seen in the character played by Soumitra Chatterjee in Bengali.
