Mimi Chakraborty first worked with Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy in Posto in 2017. In the film, she plays the character of a mother. The film also features Jisshu Sengupta and Soumitra Chatterjee in the lead. Later, she also worked with the director-duo in the Hindi adaptation of the film.

Raktabeej is the third time they are working together. Talking about their association, Mimi said that she saw how the director duo evolved. She explained that each director has their process of filmmaking and Shiboprosad and Nandita have their style. She was 25 when she played a mother in Posto. She said that she had to go through a lot of learning during that time.

However, for the actress, playing Sanjukta was different. She had a long journey in between. "Shibuda (Shiboprosad) and Nanditadi also had their journey. They have seen a lot, offered hits, and evolved as directors," she said. Mimi observed that their process remained the same but with different characters, the flavour changes. "For me, it has always been a learning process through them,” she said.

Shiboprosad and Nandita are known for family dramas, including Praktan and Haami. Raktabeej is their first film in the thriller genre. Talking about this attempt, Mimi said that the directors created something very new. “They have never done anything so larger-than-life before. Even they confess that," said Mimi. In Raktabeej teaser and trailer, we see there are huge outdoors and fight sequences -- something that is new for the director duo. "But writing a tight and good script is their forte. They bring out real pictures effortlessly and convincingly," Mimi said. Raktabeej takes inspiration from real events -- Khagragarh Blast in 2014. "When I first heard them out, it was about Puja flavour. When you watch it you will know how larger-than-life the film is,” she said.
