Talented actor Mandeep Roy, who has acted in over 500 films, passed away in the wee hours of Sunday, January 29th due to cardiac arrest. Having recently suffered a heart attack in December 2022 and was ubsequently admitted to a hospital for medical intervention, Mandeep Roy succumbed to another attack and is said to have breathed his last around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday. He was 72 years old. 

His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing and while speaking to a media outlet, Mandeep Roy's daughter Akshatha shared that her father's last rites will be performed at the Hebbal crematorium.

In a career that spanned more than four decades, Mandeep Roy is said to have acted in more than 500 films, having shared the screen space with the biggest stars of the Kannada Film Industry like Shankar Nag, Anant Nag, Kamal Haasan, Dr. Rajkumar, Ambareesh, Vishnuvardhan, Shiva Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar and many others. Having grown up as Anant and Shankar Nag's neighbour, Mandeep Roy began his career with the latter's directorial debut Minchina Ota in 1980 before going to work with the brothers on a number of popular films. In his past interviews, he has credited Anant and Shankar Nag for his entry into the Kannada Film Industry. 

Some of his best acting credits include Benkiya Bale, Accident, Elu Sutthina Kote, Aasegobba Meesegobba, Aakasmika, Agni IPS, Pushpaka Vimana (2017) and Raajakumara. He was also seen in the very recent Made in Bangalore alongside Anant Nag.

Very recently, the Kannada film fraternity woke up to the news of veteran actor Lakshman's demise on January 23rd. Lakshman, who had acted in more than 300 films alongside the biggest actors in the industry, died due to a heart attack at the age of 74. A couple of days later, legendary Telugu actress Jamuna, who has also worked with Dr. Rajkumar in a couple of Kannada films, passed away due to age-related complications. She was 87.
