Mindiyum Paranjum teaser: Unni Mukundan, Aparna Balamurali recreate popular Tamil movie scene but with a twist

Mindiyum Paranjum is an upcoming Malayalam film, starring actors Unni Mukundan and Aparna Balamurali in the lead roles. Unni Mukundan in Mindiyum Paranjum teaser

The makers of Mindiyum Paranjum released the teaser of the upcoming film on YouTube recently. The short glimpse shows Sanal (Unni Mukundan) meeting Aparna Balamurali’s character Leena in the bus. He calls her ‘Hi Bharye’ (Hi wifey) and sits in the seat behind hers even as she responds with ‘Enta Bhartave’ (yes, hubby).

The actors seem to have recreated the famous scene from the Tamil movie Alaipayuthey, where Madhavan calls out ‘Hi Pondatti’ (wife) to Shalini on the bus and she responds warmly. But in the very next line in the 2025 Malayalam film's teaser, Sanal says this is so boring and Leena asks if he meant wedding. He says not the wedding, but to address like this. Leena asks how many people he has heard addressing like that. Sanal responds he hasn’t, maybe because it doesn't sound good. He leaves with a ‘call you on the first night’ message.

The teaser then cuts to show Sanal at a hilly area, even as he gets a call from her, asking about his whereabouts. Sanal replies that our own ‘Thodupuzha’.

Mindiyum Paranjum is touted to revolve around the couple of Sanal and Leena, showcasing their relationship both before and after tying the knot. In the 2000 Tamil movie, Alaipayuthey, the lead couple first get married discreetly and continue to live with their respective families. The Hi Pondatti scene plays out on the bus after the discreet marriage. Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam directed the Tamil film, which continues to be popular among fans.

On the other hand, Mindiyum Paranjum will release in theatres on December 25, 2025, along with Nivin Pauly’s Sarvam Maya. Arun Bose directs the film, which has been in the making for several years. Jaffer Idukki, Maala Parvathi, and Jude Anthany Joseph are also part of the movie.

Unni Mukundan's previous films were Marco and Get Set Baby, while Aparna Balamurali was last seen in Mirage. Madhavan's latest film, Hindi movie Dhurandhar, is currently enjoying a successful run at the cinemas
