When the trailer of HanuMan actor Teja Sajja’s latest, Mirai, came out, the fleeting glimpses of the film’s visuals had excited audiences. And now that the film is in theatres, they can’t stop raving about the mind-blowing spectacle that director Karthik Gattamneni has presented. The engaging storytelling, top-notch VFX, powerful background score and outstanding performances make for a start-to-finish thrilling ride – that’s the gist of the majority of the comments that have sprung up about the film on social media. Mirai, which comes only days after audiences were amazed by what the Malayalam film Lokah managed on a budget of Rs 30 cr only in terms of world-building, is yet another example of using money wisely and letting it reflect onscreen, they added.
In fact, many state that if the team had the luxury of a bigger budget, the film could have been even more impactful. The expectation is that Mirai, like HanuMan, will be another blockbuster in Teja Sajja’s filmography.

“One of the best movies in the last few months; story is engaging and VFX top notch”, “Superhero tale rooted in history”, “Background score was very effected and elevated scenes well”, “Brilliant film with devotional elements”, “Mirai provides quite an adrenaline rush” to “visually spectacular entertainer that keeps one hooked for the most part; special mention to the superb VFX and emotional undercurrent”, were only some of the overwhelmingly positive comments that have been pouring in.
There are, of course, stray voices that the film is actually quite disappointing, especially in the second half. The comedy has also been called out as being cringe in an otherwise engaging film. A few were also irked with the lord Rama track in the narrative, which, they reckoned was more clickbait than value add. “Stop using lord Rama for granted”, wrote one user.
Mirai released in theatres on September 12. The film also stars Manoj Manchu, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jayaram, Jagapati Babu, among others. Gowra Hari fills in as composer, with Karthik also handling the cinematography. The OTT rights of Mirai have reportedly been sold and the film will head to JioHotstar (and OTTplay Premium), after its theatrical run.
