It has been quite some time since fans of Netflix’s Mismatched watched Season 3, and many are still upset about how the makers left them with heartbreak and open storylines. Fans have been urging the streaming giant to revive the show as soon as possible and give them the closure they deserve, as the third season did not end on a very positive note. However, there have been no updates on whether Netflix will continue the franchise. Neither the artists involved nor the streamer has revealed anything about its future. Now, Taaruk Raina has finally addressed the speculation in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay. While he remains hopeful, he also has a disappointing update for fans.
Taaruk Raina will soon be seen leading Ram Madhvani’s upcoming show, The Waking Of A Nation, set to stream on SonyLIV. In the series, he plays a lawyer on a mission to uncover the truth behind the horrific Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. During his promotional interview with OTTplay, Raina spoke about the anxiety of leading a major show and also addressed whether he will be returning for Mismatched Season 4 anytime soon.
When asked about his return to Mismatched, Raina said: "I don't know anything right now. We actually don’t know. ‘Go back to’ feels like it’s an island." When the interviewer expressed the fans' hopes of seeing him back, he added: "Even I would want to. Agar woh banaenge tabhi toh jaenge hum (We will, of course, go back if they make another season). But right now, I don’t have any plans in place. I just want people to see this (The Waking Of A Nation), and hopefully, they like it. Abhi main aur kuch soch nahi raha hoon (I’m not thinking about anything else at the moment).”

He further explained: "Talking about the future, you can plan a lot of things—you can plan a holiday, what to eat, or a party—but this is something you cannot plan. As an artist, whatever you do next is always difficult to predict because it’s not just about you. There are a thousand things that need to fall into place for an actor to get a role, for a show to be made, released, and succeed. We are just a small part of this massive process. It’s not that easy."
Taaruk Raina also spoke about the pressure of leading a show created by Ram Madhvani. He shared:"The anxiety is such that I’m trying not to think about anything. We have worked incredibly hard on this project. It took a long time to complete The Waking Of A Nation, and now that it’s ready, I feel both nervous and excited. I’ve waited for this moment for a very long time, and it feels like a dream come true. It took a lot of effort and attempts to finally get a project like this."
Speaking about working with an ensemble cast of highly talented actors, he said:"Especially with Ram (Madhvani) sir and the incredible actors on this show, when you’re surrounded by people on a different level, they push you to rise to their standards. That was my experience with The Waking Of A Nation. I was constantly striving to match the incredible talent around me."
All three seasons of Mismatched are currently streaming on Netflix. Meanwhile, The Waking Of A Nation will premiere on SonyLIV on March 7, and will also be available via OTTplay Premium. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
