Vrusshabha is meant to be in theatres in less than a fortnight on November 6 and promotions are yet to begin for the Malayalam-Telugu bilingual, which is getting a pan-India release

Two days ago, the team of Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s next, Vrusshabha posted that a big announcement was due on October 25. This announcement about the update, though, came with no time slot, so Mohanlal fans ended up waiting through the day for whatever they wanted to say. As the day wore on, though, there was no sign of the update and then it became clear that it may not happen at all, as Mohanlal was busy with the success meet of one of his big hits of the year, Thudarum.

“Gotta say, The makers of #Vrusshabha are not doing themselves any favour by this haphazard release tactics. I think as it is, the hopes are minimal, especially in Kerala and this sort of indecisiveness isn't helping....#BalajiTelefilms #Mohanlal,” wrote a netizen, a sentiment that was echoed by several others. Vrusshabha was meant to be in theatres on October 16, but was pushed ahead to November 6. Barring a teaser, the team has not released any other promotional material so far and today’s update was thought to be about the trailer. OTTplay tried reaching director Nanda Kishore, but he remained unavailable until the time of publication.
The lack of clarity about publicity activities for Vrusshabha has irked fans. “Is it not October 25 as per Indian calendar? Please release this movie directly in OTT rather than saying it as a ‘Big announcement’ comedy,” wrote a frustrated fan, while another added, “Frustrating as a #Mohanlal fan squandering his perfect year by this approach #Vrusshabha”.
Thankfully, the day didn’t end entirely in disappointment, as the makers of Thudarum announced that they’d be getting Tharun Moorthy and Mohanlal to collaborate on another film, once the filmmaker completes the two film’s he’s working on now – Torpedo and Operation Cambodia. There was also hope of seeing the actor next week, with speculation rife that he has a cameo in his son, Pranav Mohanlal’s horror thriller Dies Irae.
