Mission Cinderella: Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh starrer to be out as web series?

Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Mission Cinderella is an upcoming action thriller project. The Ranjit Tiwari directorial, which is an official remake of the Tamil movie, Ratsasan, marks the first collaboration of the two leading actors. Reportedly, rather than releasing the cop-based thriller as a movie, the makers are trying to make it a limited series.

According to a report on Pinkvilla, a source close to the development has recently informed that the story of the upcoming project lends itself to the episodic format of filmmaking, and hence, the entire team is currently trying to tweak the edit to make it a limited episode OTT series for a digital premiere on Disney+ Hotstar. The source also told the news portal that the makers are even willing to re-shoot some of the parts if needed. After the final editing, if everything materialises and the makers do decide to release it as a show then it will mark Akshay Kumar's digital debut in a series, the source added.

The source further informed Pinkvilla, “They don’t wish to dilute the impact of this story, which holds the viewer on the edge of their seat until the end. However, there is also a talk on how the longer format will give the director some more time to establish the psych of his characters in a better way."

The source also mentioned that Mission Cindrella could premiere as a film, as a series or possibly both versions, which will make it a one of a kind project in the world.

Backed by Jackky and Vashu Bhagnani, the release date of the Ranjit Tiwari directorial is yet to be out.

Meanwhile, Akshay is currently gearing up for his upcoming release titled Raksha Bandhan, which also stars Bhumi Pednekar, while Rakul Preet is currently busy filming for Thank You opposite Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra.
