A new song, Rabba Janda, released today from the upcoming spy-thriller Mission Majnu, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna. Soon after its release, Sidharth shared his experience of recreating the magic of the 70s onscreen in the film.
The actor interacted with a live audience and the media during the song launch event in Mumbai earlier today.
Asked about his favourite yesteryears singers and actors, Sidharth said, "The lyrics of the songs from the 70s are so beautiful. I am a huge fan of Kishore Kumar, who has gifted us many wonderful songs, with some picturised on him as well. I did not get a chance to lip-sync in the Rabba Janda song, and that is perhaps my only regret."
Talking about old-school romance, the actor added, "Back in the days, technology wasn't advanced, which is why things were simpler and there was a certain innocence in love. In the film, we all tried to create an innocent love story from the 70s era."
Asked about his favourite Kishore Kumar song, Sidharth said, "There are many, but one of my most favourite is Keh Du Tumhe."
Mission Majnu is based on true events and revolves around the journey of a RAW agent, and the conflict between India and Pakistan in the 1970s.
The film is written by Parveez Shaikh, Aseem Arrora and Sumit Batheja, directed by Shantanu Bagchi, and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, Amar Butala and Garima Mehta.
The first song of the film, Rabba Janda, has been written by Shabbir Ahmed, and composed by Tanishk Bagchi, with vocals from Jubin Nautiyal.
The film also stars Parmeet Sethi, Zakir Hussain, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, Arjan Bajwa and Rajit Kapur, and will release on Netflix on January 20, 2023.
