A new original series Mistry starring Ram Kapoor will debut on JioHotstar on June 27, 2025; the crime-comedy series will be available to stream online. Officially adapted from the Emmy-winning American series Monk, it is a creation of Banijay Asia in partnership with Universal International Studios.
Armaan Mistry, played by Ram Kapoor (Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi), is a detective with exceptional abilities and unusual eccentricities. Along with Shikha Talsania (Potluck) and Kshitish Date (Dharmaveer 2), the show features Mona Singh (Kafas) as ACP Sehmat Siddiqui. Rishab Seth is the director of the series.
Armaan Mistry is the Indian counterpart to Adrian Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub, who was involved in the San Francisco Police Department's unorthodox cases. The show, which follows a detective who suffers from OCD, has never been adapted for a South Asian audience before.
At its heart, Mistry is a character-driven story that, according to the creators, cleverly combines crime, comedy, and emotional depth. With the original Monk owned by NBCUniversal Formats, this concept has been developed in close collaboration.
Seth expressed that directing Mistry was an unparalleled and fulfilling experience. The premise is intriguing, and the character is even more intriguing, so he has been eager to get in ever since he joined the team. Ram has flawlessly portrayed Armaan Mistry, and the other characters, such as Mona, Shikha, and Kshitish, significantly contribute to the plot.
Ram Kapoor, who plays the lead part, described it as both a difficult and satisfying performance. He stated that Armaan Mistry is very different from any character he has portrayed previously. Making Mistry was an utterly engrossing experience; he felt like he really understood this character—his strengths, weaknesses, eccentricities, and all. The actor is overjoyed with the outcome because it features a character who he holds in high regard. In his role as Mistry on JioHotstar, he expressed his eagerness for the viewers and his admirers to witness him.
The creators of Mistry set out to give detective dramas a new twist by weaving together elements of humour, tension, and character development. June 27, 2025, marks the premiere of the series on JioHotstar.
