Mithun Chakraborty: Jealousy is a constant in the film industry

Mithun Chakraborty has been in the entertainment industry for nearly five decades. In 1976, he debuted in Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa. He bagged his first National Award in acting with that film. He walked a long way from there. Through Disco Dancer and many hits in the ’80s and ’90s, he has built his empire. Now, he is a regular on television also.  

In a recent interview with Etimes, Mithun talked about his experience. He said throughout the year the entertainment industry has seen a lot of changes. The only thing that did not change is ‘jealousy’. “If someone’s film succeeds, the others cannot sleep peacefully,” the actor said.

Mithun further added that there is one more thing that remained the same and that is the industry’s love for gossip – talking about people behind their backs. He said that one who can gossip more at a party gets the most attention.   

Mithun’s son Namashi Chakraborty will be debuting in Bollywood with his upcoming film Bad Boy. The film will be released this month. On the other hand, Mithun will be seen as Kabuliwala. Based on Rabindranath Tagore’s short story, the film will be directed by Suman Ghosh and jointly produced by SVF and Jio Studios. 

Mithun’s previous release Projapoti was a massive success. The film did very well at box office and finally was dropped on Zee5.
