Two days after being admitted to a hospital in Kolkata and being diagnosed with a cerebral stroke, Mithun Chakraborty was released from the medical centre on Monday. He is fine. He walked out on his own and waved at the waiting fans.

'Controlled diet is a must'

In fact, after being released, the National Award-winning actor met the media. He said that he fell ill due to his habit of overeating. He promised to control his diet. The actor further warned the people suffering from diabetes. “If you have diabetes, don’t think one sweet cannot harm you. It can. Control your eating habits. I eat like a monster and just got reprimanded for that,” he said.

On political committments

Meanwhile, Mithun also was vocal about politics. He is a supporter of the BJP. In fact, Prime Minister Narendra Modi checked on his health after he was admitted to the hospital. He said that he would be campaigning in the upcoming Loksabha polls. However, he also said that he would not contest the poll as a candidate. He said, “If I become the candidate what will happen to the other 42 constituency?” He further said that this was the time for a BJP uprising and he would travel outside Bengal to campaign if need be.

Mithun was shooting for Pathikrit Basu’s Shastri – a film under TMC MLA Soham Chakraborty’s production banner. It was Soham who drove him to the hospital on Saturday. Other co-actors, including Debashree Roy, Dev, director Raj Chakraborty, and others visited him. BJP leader Sukanta Majumder also visited him. Talking about the PM, Mithun said that he respects him dearly.

Mithun was taken to the emergency. He was diagnosed with an Ischemic Cerebrovascular Accident (stroke) of the brain. His son Mimmoh came to Kolkata.

Mithun, who started his journey with Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa, was part of Dev’s superhit film, Projapoti. Later he worked in Suman Ghosh’s Kabuliwala, which was critically acclaimed. Now he will be seen in Shastri.
