Mitin Mashi: Arindam Sil and Koel Mallick gear up for the third film

After the release of the first film of the Mitin Mashi franchise in 2019, Arindam Sil took his time to bring the second one. The second film, Jongole Mitin Mashi, which features Koel Mallick in the titular character, was released during Durga Puja 2023. Now, the third Mitin Mashi is set to get started.

The name of the first film is Ekti Khunir Sondhane and Koel is back as Mitin. This film will be based on Suchitra Bhattacharya’s Megher Pore Megh. Along with the director, Padmanabha Dasgupta is working on the script. Subhrajit Dutta will play the character of Mitin Mashi’s husband. Lekha Chattopadhyay will play the character of Tupur. In an interview with Anandabazar, Arindam said, “This time, Mitin Mashi’s plot will have a human relationship story. It is also made for the mature audience but will be equally likable for the young audience as usual.”

The film has a stellar casting with Shaheb Chattopadhyay, Koneenica Banerjee, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Madhurima Basak, Roshmni Bhattacharya, Anashua Majumdar, Debraj Roy, Dulal Lahiri, Shataf Figar, Sandip De and others. 

This time, Surinder Films will produce the film. Earlier, it used to be under the banner of Camelia Productions. Talking about this change, Arindam said, “Surinder has the rights to new stories.” However, he stayed away from any comparative studies between these two houses. 

The shooting of the film will take place in Kolkata. This time, the film will be action-packed and that’s why action director Sunil Rodrigues will fly in from Mumbai. Earlier, it has been speculated that the shooting of the third Mitin Mashi film might take place abroad. However, Arindam said that his team found many locations in Kolkata that have not been explored so far. He further added that this film will be full of challenges and there are laters that will be tied with classical music.
