Wamiqa Gabbi, who has already worked in a number of Indian film industries such as Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam, marks her second collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj with the anthology series, Modern Love Mumbai. The actor calls the opportunity to work with him, ‘a dream come true’. She is part of the episode, Mumbai Dragon in the six-part anthology series on Amazon Prime Video.
Talking to IANS, Wamiqa said that she is half-way through the year and it has already turned into a “fabulous” year. She said that with Mai already getting a great reception, she is excited for what's in store for the rest of the year, including two other major projects with Vishal Bharadwaj, which is a “dream come true”.
"I feel fortunate to have gotten the opportunity of working with such an experienced and talented filmmaker twice already, so early on in my career! Blessed to be starting my journey in the industry with some of the best and biggest names in the industry,” she added.
Modern Love Mumbai, which is based on the hit international series from the New York Times column, brings together prominent Indian filmmakers such as Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Dhruv Sehgal, Alankrita Shrivastava and Nupur Asthana. The show, which is the Indian adaptation of the US show Modern Love, explores love in its many shapes and forms in the city of Mumbai.
“Coming to Vishal Bhardwaj's Mumbai Dragon, the filmmaker touched upon a very unconventional setup to show 'Maa Ka Pyaar' in Mumbai. Sui's (Yeo Yann Yann) excessive love for her son (Meiyang Chang) is threatened when he shares his portion of love with his girlfriend (Wamiqa Gabbi) in Mumbai Dragon, which is set against the backdrop of the Indian Chinese community,” read the series’ review on OTTplay.
Modern Love Mumbai is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
