In just a few days, Modern Love Mumbai will hit the silver screen with its contemporary tales of love set in the titular city. The anthology series consists of six episodes, helmed by Shonali Bose, Hansal Mehta, Vishal Bhardwaj, Alankrita Shrivastava, Dhruv Sehgal and Nupur Asthana. Vishal recently opened up about his episode of the series, titled Mumbai Dragon.

In a statement, the filmmaker said, “If one thinks about it, while love has many shades over varied times and in different parts of the world, its essence always remains the same.” He talked about how he wanted to tell a relatable love story, which showcased love in its different, contrasting forms.

Vishal revealed that his episode is focussed on the Indian-Chinese community and deals with a ‘unique’ storyline. Despite having a nuanced culture and language, the community of people blend remarkably in with the city’s social fabric, revealed the filmmaker. “I find this aspect of filmmaking, where I get to showcase many things at the same time, extremely fascinating,” he added. The filmmaker also said that he was grateful towards the show’s cast, Yeo Yann Yann, Meiyang Chang, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Naseeruddin Shah, without whom the show ‘would not be possible’.
