Modern Love season 2 to premiere in August on Amazon Prime Video

When Amazon Prime’s Modern Love premiered in 2019, audiences were instantly drawn in. The first season of this anthology series, based on the New York Times column of the same name, revolved around genuine human connections and the evolving nature of love. Recently, Amazon Prime announced that the second season of Modern Love will be available for streaming on the platform from August 13.

Season one featured a star-studded cast of Tina Fey, Anne Hathaway, Jane Alexander, Dev Patel and Andy Garcia. The stories of this season focused on the importance of trust in relationships, unexpected pregnancies and rekindling the spark in marriages. The crux of the series was clear - not everyone is meant to find everlasting love, and that’s okay. Modern Love struck a chord with many who found its writing and casting to be perfect.

All eight episodes of the second season of Modern Love, which was expected to release in 2020, are being led by writer/director John Carney. The second instalment in this romantic drama series will include popular actors like The Crown’s Tobias Menzies and Ratched’s Sophie Okonedo. Other cast members include Kit Harrington, Minnie Driver, Anna Paquin and Tom Burke.

In order to make the series as relatable as possible, Carney looked through the entire collection of Modern Love columns and selected the most beautiful stories that he could adapt. "All I really thought to myself was, 'Pick ones that you feel connected to; try to avoid the ones you think are cute or maybe I could make a conventional TV show out of them — pick the ones that spoke to you because of something your mother once said to you or because of a theme that happened to you,'" Carney explained to People magazine.

Modern Love season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on August 13.
