After a brief sabbatical, Mohan Babu played a lead role in a Telugu film with Son of India. The patriotic drama, which had dialogues by Sainath Thotapalli, was written and directed by Diamond Ratna Babu. The film that hit theatres on February 18 didn't exactly set the box office on fire. Meena, Srikanth, Pragya Jaiswal too essayed key roles in the patriotic action saga, where Mohan Babu was cast as vigilante. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video recently, ahead of Chiranjeevi starrer Acharya.
Son of India has sprung a surprise on the streaming platform and has made its way to the 'top 10' list. The very reason that the film was in the news for many reasons seems to have piqued the curiosity of the spectators to catch it on OTT. The plot revolves around an ordinary man, the owner of a printing press, who seeks vengeance after the loss of a loved one and stands tall for those, who're victims of similar situations.
Legendary composer Ilaiyaraja has scored the music for the film. Tanikella Bharani, Naresh, Ali, Vennela Kishore, Prudhvi Raj, Raghu Babu, Raja Ravindra, Ravi Prakash form the supporting cast. With cinematography by Sarvesh Murari, Son of India was edited by Gautham Raju. Chinna was the art director. Mohan Babu's son Vishnu Manchu had produced the film under Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and 24 Frames Factory.
Mohan Babu, before Son of India, was seen in Suriya's drama Soorarai Pottru, where he played a character named after him (Bhaktavatsalam Naidu). He's set to play the role of sage Durvasa in Gunasekhar's Shaakuntalam headlined by Samantha.
