Mohanlal and Aadujeevitham director Blessy team up for a new project? Here’s what we know

Mohanlal, the Malayalam superstar has been making headlines lately, with his career choices. After a long period of mostly underwhelming outings, the veteran actor has a highly exciting line-up of projects, for 2025 and 2026. If the recent updates are to be believed, Mohanlal is now teaming up with Aadujeevitham director Blessy, for a new project. Interestingly, the grapevine suggests that the National Award-winner is set to play a grey-shaded role in the film.

Mohanlal, Blessy team up for a new project?

According to the reports, Mohanlal and director Blessy are all set to reunite after a long gap of 13 years, for a new project. If the reports are to be believed, the iconic actor-director duo is planning to team up for a new project, which is touted to be an emotional drama, is scripted by actor-writer Shankar Ramakrishnan. The grapevine suggests that the upcoming Mohanlal starrer is going to be the first film in the director’s career, which is not scripted by himself.

The untitled film’s story is reportedly penned by newcomer Irfan Mohammed. Some unconfirmed reports suggest that the veteran actor is playing a grey-shaded character after a very long gap, in the untitled film. According to the reports, the much-awaited project will be widely shot at the various locations of the Thrissur district and the Kerala district. More updates on the project, and an official announcement, are expected to be out very soon.

Mohanlal and Blessy’s previous collaborations

As reported earlier, Mohanlal and Blessy have been in talks to reunite for a project, for quite some time now. However, the duo’s plans didn’t materialise, due to the long delay in the production of the senior filmmaker’s recently released acclaimed film Aadujeevitham, which features Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead role. If things go as planned, the upcoming project will mark the fourth onscreen collaboration of the actor-director duo, after Thanmathra, Bhramaram, and Pranayam.

Thanmathra, the classic film which marked the first collaboration of Mohanlal and Blessy, is currently available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Mohanlal delivered one of the finest performances of his acting career as Rameshan Nair, an Alzheimer's patient, in the film. The duo’s second outing Bhramaram, which features Mohanlal as the eccentric Shivan Kutty, is also streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Pranayam, the third outing of the actor-director duo, is now available for streaming on Sun NXT and OTT Play Premium.
