After wrapping up his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure, Mohanlal has plunged into the completion of his pending commitments. The superstar has recently started the dubbing work of his latest collaboration with Priyadarshan, a segment titled Olavum Theeravum for the Netflix anthology based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s short stories.

The segment revolves around MT’s eponymous story which was also the base for the 1970 movie of the same name that had Madhu, Ushanandhini and Jose Prakash in lead roles. The Priyadarshan directorial is touted to be a tribute to the makers of the earlier film and has even retained the same story with just minor tweaks.

Mohanlal plays a timber trader named Baputty in the film, which also has Mammukkoya, Durga Krishna, Surabhi Lakshmi and Hareesh Peradi. The team had concluded the shoot of the segment, which is touted to be around 50 minutes in duration, last month in North Kerala. Cinematographer Santosh Sivan and art director Sabu Cyril are also part of the segment, which has a few portions shot in black and white.

Mohanlal and Durga Krishna recently began dubbing for the film and are expected to complete it in one go. The superstar is also busy with the rehearsals of an upcoming stage show by AMMA. Once he finishes these, he will resume the shoot of Jeethu Joseph’s action-thriller Ram.

The movie will be shot for a few days in Kochi before they head to the United Kingdom in September. Ram, which was initially planned as a single film, will now be released in two instalments. The team had re-worked on the script of the film during the pandemic to make it suitable for a pan-Indian release. The movie also has Trisha Krishnan, Indrajith Sukumaran, G Chandunath, Durga Krishna and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles.

Ram marks the fourth collaboration of Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph duo after Drishyam duology and 12th Man. Jeethu had earlier told us that they will also be working on another movie after Ram.
