The first look poster of Mohanlal-Prithviraj Sukumaran duo’s Bro Daddy, their next outing after the blockbuster Lucifer, was unveiled on social media today by the two Mollywood superstars and it is packed with all the feel-good moments that they had promised the film would be.
The poster also confirmed that the film will release directly on Disney+ Hotstar. The first look poster had the duo staring at each other, looking dapper in their tuxedos while standing in a stairway. The movie's visual aesthetics that Mohanlal had earlier raved about was in full display in the poster, which also revealed the lavish settings of Bro Daddy.
The film, which is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, has an ensemble cast featuring Kalyani Priyadarshan, Kaniha, Meena Sagar, Jagadish, Unni Mukundan, Soubin Shahir, Kavya Shetty, Lalu Alex and Mallika Sukumaran in pivotal roles. Mohanlal and Prithviraj play father and son, respectively, in the movie scripted by Sreejith N and Bibin Malieckal.
In a recent interview with OTTplay, Mohanlal had talked about why the duo decided to do Bro Daddy after Empuraan was pushed to next year amid the pandemic restrictions. While the actor conceded that Bro Daddy was always meant to be an OTT release, he said that they spared no expenses in ensuring that the film stood out from the rest of the comedies, thereby appealing to a large section of the audience.
“It’s a feel-good entertainer. We enjoyed doing it. It’s a film that you cannot compare to Lucifer. If you shoot a humour-driven movie with visually-pleasing aesthetics, it comes out really well,” he said. Mohanlal also said that the movie would also generate curiosity among those who had watched Lucifer, which had a pan-Indian appeal, and urge the viewers to watch the movie when it released on the streaming platform.
The film’s subtitling works were also completed recently. Mohanlal, meanwhile, is currently busy with his own directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. While Prithviraj was also part of the movie, the actor seems to have opted out of the reshoots due to scheduling conflicts.
