Mohanlal as Kirata in Kannappa, Hridayapoorvam poster: Announcements galore on Thudarum star’s birthday

As Mohanlal celebrates his birthday on May 21, 2025, fans and industry colleagues have been showering him with much love on social media. Several announcements are also being made on the Lucifer star's birthday. The team of Kannappa, the upcoming Telugu film, has also chipped in with a special video of Mohanlal's character from the movie. Not just the Kannappa glimpse, Mohanlal too dropped the first poster from another of his upcoming film, Hridayapoorvam.

Mohanlal's glimpse from Kannappa unveiled

Kannappa is an upcoming Telugu film, starring Vishnu Manchu in the titular role. Based on the legend of Kannappa, the film will also have Mohanlal in a special appearance as Kirata. While wishing the legendary actor on his birthday, the Kannappa team wrote on social media, "As Kirata in #Kannappa 🏹, you’re not just portraying a role you’re creating history." Kannappa is directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, and also features Mohan Babu, R Sarathkumar, Brahmanandam, Raghu Babu, Preity Mukhundhan and Madhoo. Apart from Mohanlal, Akshay Kumar and Kajal Aggarwal will also be making special appearances in the film.

Mohanlal drops Hridayapoorvam poster

Mohanlal also dropped the first poster of Hridayapoorvam, his upcoming film, directed by Sathyan Anthikad. In the poster, Mohanlal is seen with his Hridayapoorvam co-stars Malavika Mohanan and Sangeeth Prathap of Premalu fame. He captioned it, “Straight from the heart, with my favourites by my side." The poster, which has a green setting, exudes the vibes of a feel-good film, much like what Mohanlal had promised earlier. 

Earlier, Kaanekkaane actress Aishwarya Lekshmi had said that she had to opt out of the Mohanlal- starrer due to date issues. 

The film is set for an Onam 2025 release, and fans remarked that Hridayapoorvam will be a winner at the box office, while some commented that it will be the next '100 crore' film. Mohanlal's two other releases of the year - Empuraan and Thudarum - took the box office by storm and even entered the Rs 200 crore club.

Earlier in the day, Mohanlal had also unvieled the Bigg Boss Season 7 logo.
