Mohanlal film to be a mass padam, while Tovino-Darshana movie is a…: Krishand on his upcoming projects

Malayalam director Krishand is busy with the promotions for his upcoming film Masthishka Maranam. But the National Award-winning director simply cannot evade questions about his much-anticipated project with superstar Mohanlal, which he says has now taken a new direction. Not just the Mohanlal project, Krishand also has a film with actors Tovino Thomas and Darshana Rajendran. When OTTplay caught up with Krishand ahead of Masthishka Maranam release, the director shared some titbits yet interesting information about his upcoming projects.

What is the update on Mohanlal-Krishand movie

Mohanlal’s association with Krishand, who is known for his distinctive filmography, had sparked much excitement among fans, but the project is still in the discussion stage. When OTTplay quizzed Krishand on the latest update, the director said the project has undergone a change in terms of both subject and the writer.

“Now, we are looking at another subject and another writer has come on board. We are waiting to begin the discussions on it. Oru mass padam (I will be a mass film). But I can’t reveal anything more now,” he explained.

Is Krishand working with Tovino Thomas-Darshana Rajendran

Last week, there was online buzz about Krishand collaborating with Tovino Thomas and Darshana Rajendran on a project. Krishand confirmed to OTTplay that the project is on and has moved on to the next stage of discussions.

“Tovino and I have been planning to associate for long. We have begun discussions on it. It is a love story-kind of film with Tovino, Darshana. Hopefully that’s the next one going on floors. Ideally, next March-April release is the plan or might get pushed. But it is too early to say anything conclusively now,” Krishand said.

Tovino and Darshana had earlier collaborated on the film Dear Friend, but were not paired opposite each other.

Not just these two highly interesting projects, Krishand is planning an action film Darshan Rajendran as the central character. This film is also in its early stages of discussion.

Krishand and Darshana have frequently collaborated in projects such as the movie Purusha Pretham, and the series 4.5 Gang.

On the other hand, Krishand’s upcoming film Masthishka Maranam is releasing on February 27, 2026. The film, billed as a cyberpunk, features Rajisha Vijayan, Divya Prabha and Santhy Balachandran, among others.
