Mollywood fans never miss a chance to celebrate the coming together of two of the biggest stars in the industry – Mohanlal and Mammootty. Their latest union also presented a special moment, a photo with Mohanlal and wife Suchitra along with Mammootty and wife Sulfath.

The two star pairs had recently attended the wedding of entrepreneur MA Yusuff Ali’s brother’s daughter and were snapped together at the function. While the photo of Mohanlal and Mammootty got its usual share of love from the fans on social media, it’s the family pic that actually went viral.

Fans of Mohanlal had shared a collage of the previous photo of the two couples that was available on social media – from the Pulimurugan star’s wedding in 1988. Fans were quick to point out that the major difference was the two stars are now sporting beards as compared to the younger versions of themselves in the older photo.

Despite Mohanlal and Mammootty’s fans clashing over box office records and whose movies are better, the actors themselves have always maintained a warm camaraderie. Since the pandemic, Mohanlal, who calls Mammootty ‘Ichakka’ – an elder brother, has been paying the megastar visits – be it to see his new house or to invite him for the pooja function of his debut directorial Barroz. Incidentally, Mammootty had turned up at the latter event, which was also attended by the bigwigs of Malayalam cinema, sporting the same sunglasses as he did in the viral photo taken during Mohanlal and Suchitra’s wedding 35 years ago.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Mammootty is currently busy with the shoot of Bazooka, which is helmed by scriptwriter Kaloor Dennis’ son Deeno. He has also wrapped up the shoot of Kaathal: The Core and Kannur Squad. Mohanlal, meanwhile, is set to complete the shoot of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban by June end and begin working on the Telugu-Malayalam bilingual Vrushabha. The actor, who is also part of Rajinikanth’s Jailer, will start shooting for Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Empuraan in August 2023.
