Mohanlal-Prithviraj’s Empuraan in trouble with Lyca Productions exit? Here’s what we know so far

With just 12 more days to go for the release of Malayam industry’s most-expected film L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, there have been uncertainties in the release, with production banner Lyca Productions associated with the film in financial struggles. However, there also been reports stating that the film’s co-production Aashirvad Cinemas Pvt Ltd, has also been having to face rough waters with Lyca, leading to severing ties with them. Empuraan: Lyca Productions exits and replaced by new distributor?

Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas' co-production Empuraan, is one of the much-expected sequels from Malayalam film industry. Starring Mohanlal in the lead role, and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the high-octane action thriller is scheduled to hit theatres on March 27.

However, what we hear as per reports is that not all is well between Lyca and Aashirvad. Lyca has already been facing financial difficulties after the failures of Lal Salaam, and Indian 2, with Vidaamuyarchi and Vettaiyan not turning to be blockbusters. In this situation, there also been disagreements between the two banners over distribution and business of Empuraan. Speculations suggest that Lyca is willing to exit the project, given it is compensated financially. Further, Sree Gokulam Movies has taken over the project along with Aashirvad, thus clearing all the hurdles for the release. As per this, Empuraan's release is expected to take place smoothly.

Empuraan: 12 days to go for Mohanlal-Prithviraj’s ambitious sequel

Empuraan is the sequel to the hit 2019 action thriller film Lucifer, which features Mohanlal in the lead role. The sequel boasts a stellar cast, including Prithviraj Sukumaran who is also directing, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Manju Warrier, among others.
