Mollywood superstar Mohanlal to head the Association of Malayalam Movie Actors (A.M.M.A) once again. If the reports are to be believed, the actor has been re-elected as the President of the group. The sources also suggest that he regained his position without any opposition.

According to the results of the new election, Edavela Babu, who has been the executive committee member for the last two decades, will continue as the General Secretary. Actor Siddique will be the Treasurer while actor Jayasurya will be the Joint Secretary.

The Mohanlal-Edavela Babu headed committee is leading A.M.M.A for a second time in a row, and their new term period is 2021-2024.

The Vice President election of A.M.M.A will be held on December 19, at hotel Crown Plaza, Kochi. Reportedly, actors Asha Sarath, Shweta Menon, and Maniyanpilla Raju have confirmed their nominations.

Mohanlal’s first term as the President was during a tough period with the group getting into controversies multiple times. When he was elected as the President back in 2018, the first decision of the committee was to invite actor Dileep back. To the unversed, Dileep was removed after he was arrested by the Kerala police for being alleged mastermind behind a rape attempt towards a fellow actress.

Some of the women members strongly protested the decision and moved against A.M.M.A. The members split up and made a new association called Women’s Collective in Cinema (WCC), and called out A.M.M.A for misogyny and favouritism. They also condemned the decision as an anti-feminist one, which led to much controversies then.
