The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting revealed yesterday (September 20) that Mohanlal has won the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which has thrilled moviegoers and his fans all over the world. During a press conference today, Mohanlal discussed his thoughts on receiving the esteemed award and the remarks made by certain prominent people on social media.
Ram Gopal Varma's comment on Mohanlal's win
The celebrated director, who frequently expresses his opinions on social media, reacted after the Malayalam superstar's triumph. "I don’t know much about #DadasahebPhalke except that he’s made the 1st ever film , which i dint see and I never met anyone who saw it , but from what I saw and know of Mohanlal, I think Dadasaheb Phalke should be given the MOHANLAL AWARD," he wrote on X.
During the press conference, Mohanlal was asked about this and made an amusing comment regarding RGV's dark sense of humour. "He and I share a good bond. He's always had a different viewpoint, and I'm sure he hasn't made this statement seriously," Mohanlal remarked. The actor additionally showed his appreciation for the honour and highlighted how fortunate he was to have had the opportunity to work with renowned performers from various industries and in exceptional films.

As soon as the news broke, Mammootty congratulated Mohanlal on social media, penned a heartfelt message for his close friend. You truly deserve this crown," he posted on his official pages. On social media, other celebrities from the film industry shared their happiness at Mohanlal's achievement. Aju Varghese, Lissy, Sharaf U Dheen, Asif Ali, Kunchacko Boban, and other Malayalam actors conveyed their respect for the superstar. On September 23, Mohanlal is going to receive the accolade at the 71st National Film Awards event in New Delhi.
