Mohanlal-starrer Neru OTT rights sold for a record amount? Here's what we know

Malayalam superstar Mohanal and director Jeethu Joseph are all set for the release of their courtroom drama Neru to hit the big screens. Also starring Priyamani and Anaswara Rajan, the film is set to be released in theatres on December 21. Posters for the film have been doing the rounds on social media, with fans expecting an intense courtroom drama from the Drishyam actor-director duo. As the film approaches its release date, there is a lot of buzz surrounding its OTT and satellite rights. 

Neru to stream on THIS platform post its theatrical release?

According to the most recent reports, Disney+ Hotstar has acquired the digital rights to Neru. Asianet has reportedly paid a significant sum for the satellite rights to Mohanlal's film. However, an official confirmation is still being awaited. 

Mohanlal returns as an advocate after 13 year in Neru

Although the Neru team has not revealed much about the story, Mohanlal plays an advocate after 13 years in Neru. The project also marks Priyamani’s reunion with the superstar after the success of their 2012 crime thriller, Grandmaster. This is the first time that she is collaborating with director Jeethu Joseph.

Neru also stars Siddique, Jagadish, Ganesh Kumar, and others in key roles. Satheesh Kurup is the director of photography, while Vishnu Shyam has composed the songs and the original score. VS Vinayak has handled the editing, and Antony Perumbavoor is the producer.

Neru's latest poster reveals a connection Mohanlal and Priyamani’s 2012 film, Grandmaster

The Lucifer star and Priyamani are both depicted in their court robes on the most recent movie poster, which Mohanlal unveiled. They appear in intense poses and one cannot miss the striking resemblance of Priyamani’s character to that in her 2012 film with Mohanlal, Grandmaster. In the 2012 film, she played the role of an advocate, Deepthi Chandrasekar, who is the former wife of Mohanlal’s character. 

Jeethu Joseph begins shoot of Basil Joseph’s Nunakuzhi

Meanwhile, director Jeethu has already begun shooting for his upcoming dark comedy titled Nunakuzhi, which is being headlined by Basil Joseph. The first-look poster of the film, which was released a few weeks ago, has the tagline ‘Liar’s Day Out’, with a signpost referencing dialogues from Malayalam pop culture. The film is written by KR Krishnakumar, who had previously worked with him on 12th Man and Kooman. Additional details about the film’s plot are still under wraps.
