If rumours are to be believed, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal will make a guest appearance in Tollywood star Vishnu Manchu’s upcoming film, Bhakta Kannappa. The speculations were fuelled further after a picture, featuring Vishnu and Mohanlal,  recently surfaced on the internet. Mohanlal was last seen playing a cameo role in the Rajinikanth starrer, Jailer. Earlier, Prabhas was also roped in for a cameo role in the Bhakta Kannappa, which is touted to be Vishnu’s dream project.

After Yogi, Prabhas and Nayanthara to reunite in Bhakta Kannappa?

Bhakta Kannappa is a big-budget period drama film, which revolves around Kannappa, a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. Vishnu plays the lead role in the movie, which went on floors recently. It has been reported that Vishnu offered Prabhas the role of Shiva , and the latter has accepted it.

Nayanthara is rumoured to play the part of Parvati. Prabhas and Nayanthara acted together 16 years ago in a Telugu film, titled Yogi, which was directed by VV Vinayakan. Nupur Sanon, who is making her second appearance in a Telugu film, will play the female lead in Bhakta Kannappa.

The film’s script is written by legendary writer Parachuri Gopala Krishna and Sai Madhav Burra. Apparently, it took them over two years to complete the script. Sheldon Shau is responsible for cinematography, and Chinna is the movie’s art director.

Mohanlal’s upcoming projects

Mohanlal is gearing up to begin filming for the highly anticipated sequel to Lucifer. Titled Empuraan, the movie will go on floors next month. The Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial will be filmed at various foreign locations. In a statement, Prithviraj said that Empuraan will delve into the backstory of Mohanlal’s character, Stephen Nedumbally, aka Khureshi Ab'raam, as well as explore other events from the narrative of Lucifer.

Meanwhile, Jeethu Joseph’s Neru and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Malaikottai Vaaliban are also in the pipeline. Neru will hit the theatres during Christmas. It’s a courtroom drama, in which Mohanlal will be seen as a lawyer, after a gap of 15 years.

Slated to release on January 25, Malaikottai Vaaliban is one of his much-awaited films. It’s a period action drama, made on a massive scale.
