PremiumMohanlal to team up with Joshiy again after 7 years for a big-budget film?

Amid social media buzz that Mohanlal isn’t keen on giving dates to young talents like his counterpart Mammootty, the Drishyam superstar is now in discussions with veteran filmmaker Joshiy for another collaboration.
The duo, who have worked together in several superhits including No. 20 Madras Mail, Naran and Run Baby Run, had lasted teamed up for Lailaa O Lailaa in 2015. The upcoming movie will be scripted by Porinju Mariam Jose writer Abhilash N Chandran.
As per reports, the movie will be made on a big budget as compared to Joshiy’s previous two movies Porinju Mariam Jose and Paappan. The team has had a preliminary discussion with Mohanlal and is currently awaiting confirmation from the star’s side to slot the dates. Abhilash, meanwhile, is also scripting Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming gangster film King of Kotha, which will be directed by Joshiy’s son Abhilash Joshiy.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal, who has been busy with his directorial debut Barroz: The Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure, has two more songs left in the film to shoot. These will be filmed in Portugal and Bangkok.
The actor is next set to resume shooting for Jeethu Joseph’s action-entertainer Ram, which was halted in February 2020 due to the worldwide pandemic lockdown. The film, which also has Trisha, Indrajith Sukumaran and Adil Hussain, is set to resume shooting in the United Kingdom by mid of June. Mohanlal is expected to join Joshiy’s film, if it gets greenlit, only after completing Ram that will also have a Middle East schedule.
Mohanlal’s previous release was Jeethu Joseph’s mystery thriller 12th Man, which is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Joshiy, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Paappan, which is a crime drama starring Suresh Gopi, Kaniha, Gokul Suresh, Nyla Usha and Neeta Pillai. The film, scripted by RJ Shaan, has Suresh Gopi playing a former cop who investigates a case.
