Malayalam superstar Mohanlal recently unveiled the first look poster of director Harikumar’s Autorickshawkarante Bharya, which has Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ann Augustine in the lead. The movie, which is based on M Mukundan’s eponymous novel, had completed shooting earlier this year.
The poster of the film, which is produced by Benzy Productions, featured Suraj and Ann in an autorickshaw by the beach. Apart from the lead actors, the movie also has Swasika, Kailash, Janardhanan, Sunil Sukhada, Neena Kurup, Devi Ajith, Satheesh Poduval and Dr Rajith Kumar in pivotal roles.
Autorickshawkarante Bharya marks Elsamma Enna Aankutty actress Ann’s comeback Malayalam film after a gap of several years. She plays the role of Radhika, who is the wife of an irresponsible autorickshaw driver played by Suraj.
In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Harikumar, who had earlier directed Unni Mukundan and Rima Kallingal’s Clint, told us that the movie, which is told from a female perspective, revolves around how Ann’s character guides Suraj’s life by showing him the error in his ways. The film is set in Mahe.
This is also the first film that Ann had signed up for after announcing her comeback last year. Harikumar said he had considered a lot of the current actresses but none of them suited the role and when Ann had expressed her interest in making her comeback, the filmmaker and producers had approached her and she agreed to come onboard.
The actress, whose last full-length role was in Nee-Na and had starred in an extended cameo in the segment World of Trilok in Dulquer’s Salmaan Solo in 2017, is also part of director Rathish Ambat’s segment Kadalkattu in the upcoming Netflix anthology that is based on writer MT Vasudevan Nair’s stories. Kadalkattu also has Ann sharing screen space with Indrajith Sukumaran and National Award-winning actress Aparna Balamurali. The anthology, which wrapped up principal photography in August, is expected to drop on the platform later this year.
