Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph teamed up for Ram, the realistic action thriller in 2020. The movie was expected to mark the duo’s second collaboration, after the massive success of the 2013-released cult crime drama, Drishyam. However, the project was put on hold later due to the pandemic, multiple lockdowns, and financial issues. As per the recent updates, Mohanlal and Jeethu Joseph are now set to resume Ram, in August 2024. Meanwhile, lyricist Vinayak Sasikumar recently revealed that the movie will have a unique theme song.
Ram to have a unique theme song, says Vinayak Sasikumar
The young lyricist, who penned recent chartbusters including the much-loved ‘Illuminati’ from Fahadh Faasil-starrer Aavesham, confirmed that he is indeed a part of the Ram team. In his recent chat with a leading Malayalam online media, Vinayak Sasikumar revealed that the upcoming Mohanlal-starrer will have a unique theme song with English lyrics. The lyricist, who wanted to do something different with the theme song, penned the lyrics in English and director Jeethu Joseph approved it.
Interestingly, Vinayak Sasikumar also added that it is a unique ‘Mass’ song, which is new to the Malayalam film industry. According to the lyricist, the yet-to-be-revealed Ram theme song will highlight the mass elements in the film, and comes along the lines of Western theme songs, like the ones in the famous James Bond movie franchise. Vishnu Shyam is composing both the songs and original score, for the long-delayed Mohanlal-starrer. Vinayak Sasikumar’s update has left the cine-goers, who were deeply disappointed with the delay of the Jeethu Joseph directorial, super excited.
Ram to have a Christmas 2024 release?
As mentioned before, the final shooting schedule of Ram will be resumed by the beginning of August 2024. Director Jeethu Joseph confirmed the reports at a recently held event and also added that the production issues have been solved. As per the reports, the first installment of Mohanlal’s ambitious project, which is being made in two parts, is set to have a theatrical release during the Christmas season of 2024. Along with the Malayalam superstar, Ram features a stellar star cast including Trisha Krishnan, Indrajith Sukumaran, Adil Hussain, Anoop Menon, Saikumar, Suman, Samyuktha, and many others in the key roles.
