Mohiniyattam: Saiju Kurup's Sashidharan is back in a 'Kill or Die' situation this summer; Poster out!

Recently, the production of Mohiniyattam, an upcoming Malayalam movie, was finished. The first poster revealing the main characters has now been released by the filmmakers. This will be Saiju Kurup's 150th film and a follow-up to the 2024 comedy Bharathanatyam.

The first poster features the main characters from the first instalment looking terrified, while in the backdrop there is a fan with a rope tied for someone to hang. In contrast to Bharathanatyam, this movie seems to combine comedy and thriller elements. In the days ahead, a teaser is anticipated, which should provide additional insight into the film's plot. A day prior, the creators confirmed in an update that the first poster will be available on February 13. This poster was shared on social media by Mammootty, Unni Mukundan, and Dileep. Additionally, the film's producers have stated that it will be released in theatres during the summer of this year, most likely in April or May.

The filming of this sequel was finished in January 2026, as the makers confirmed on social media. In November 2025, filming got underway. The film's director, Krishnadas Murali, also wrote the screenplay. Saiju Kurup, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Kalaranjini, Swathi Das Prabhu, and Sruthy Suresh were previously confirmed to return for the sequel. Nisthar Sait, Jagadish, and Santhosh will also play significant roles in Mohiniyattam. Because Bharathanatyam received such a favourable response, particularly after its OTT debut, a sequel, Mohiniyattam, was revealed in May of last year.

This 2024 comedy-drama is available to watch on Manorama Max and Amazon Prime Video. Sashidharan, the eldest child of Bharathan Nair, is the subject of the film. When his father becomes ill and declares his final wish to visit his illegitimate son and second wife, his family struggles to hold onto their reputation in their small town and find solutions to the moral dilemmas that result. Bharatanatyam was praised by many within days of its online release.
