Anil Kapoor is all set to be seen as Subedaar in his next. The film brings Mona Singh back as the baddie after Aamir Khan’s Happy Patel. This time, Mona plays the role of a sand mafia leader, Babli Didi. From her hilarious reaction after first hearing the script to keeping Anil Kapoor on his toes throughout the film, the actress shared some fun details about filming the upcoming movie.
Mona Singh’s initial reaction on hearing Subedaar
While sharing news about her initial reaction after hearing that she has bagged Subedaar, Mona Singh said, “Mujhe Suresh (Triveni) ka phone aaya, he is a dear friend. And he told me, Mona, I’m offering you a role, something that you have never done before. He narrated the script to me and told me about my character, and I was like, ‘Arey baap re! Yeh kya de diya mujhe?”
Mona described Babli Didi as ‘full of surprises’ and ‘little whimsical.’ Confessing that she is unapologetically flawed, the actor stated that is what she was seeking – a challenge.

Apart from the dialect, Mona had the challenge of playing ‘gundi didi.’ She recalled her character as, “Ek heartland ka dialect bhi pakadna hai aur pura sand mafia aap chala rahi hai. Aur maine Subedaar Ji ko dukhi kar rakha hai puri picture mein.” She recalled how Didi is responsible for all the action in the movie, and the movie left her with sleepless nights but she rather had fun in doing so.
