Monkey Man is set to release in the United States on April 5, 2024, and in India on April 19, 2024. Universal Pictures released a trailer for the movie in January 2024 and shared a second one yesterday. Both the trailers offer a compelling and insightful view of the Indo-American adventure that lies ahead, full of autorickshaw chases, Punjabi beats, and solid kickboxing.

Monkey Man: What to expect

Monkey Man follows the story of Kid, an anonymous young man who lives his version of a life inspired by the stories of Hanuman, the eternally young Monkey God who is an icon of strength, wisdom, and courage. He works menial jobs for meagre pay at an underground club. Kid also dons a monkey mask and is beaten to a pulp night after night by more popular boxers for cash.

But when he gets a chance to get revenge on the corrupt officer and the sinister system that was responsible for his mother's death, Kid does not hold back. The highly trained, dedicated lad becomes the spark that may set the whole system aflame, purifying the poor and oppressed from the city’s exploitative and corrupt elites.

Monkey Man cast

A compelling socio-political narrative, combined with revenge, revolution, a struggle for justice, and liberation, the film also remembers to include humorous and quirky scenes as a comic relief for viewers, amidst intense action and emotion-filled sequences. Monkey Man features an impressive cast, comprising the talented likes of Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikander Kher, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Makarand Deshpande and Adithi Kalkunte.
