We had earlier reported that actor Nayanthara will be reprising her titular role in the upcoming sequel of the 2020 Tamil fantasy comedy film Mookuthi Amman. A few months back, production banner Vels Film International which backed the film made an announcement of the sequel. Now, the banner on Sunday revealed that an update about the project will soon be made on Monday.

Vels Film International produced the 2020 fantasy comedy film Mookuthi Amman which starred Nayanthara in the lead titular role. She played the lead along with RJ Balaji, who also written and directed the film. Now, as per the latest update, a sequel for the film has been announced with Nayanthara onboard the project. However, it looks like the sequel will have a new filmmaker taking up the reins.
Vels Film International on Sunday announced a new update about the project will drop on Monday. The banner is presenting the film along with Rowdy Pictures. It is expected that the update will be revealing who the director of the film will be. As per speculations, it is expected that filmmaker Sundar C known for his commercial entertainers will helm the sequel. The cast and crew of the film are expected to be revealed shortly.
Mookuthi Amman is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Mookuthi Amman is a fantasy comedy film, written and directed by RJ Balaji who also starred alongside Nayanthara in the lead role. It released directly on the platform for Diwali 2020.
The film also starred actors Urvashi, Smruthi Venkat, Madhu Mailankody, Abinaya, Moulee and Ajay Ghosh, and others in prominent roles. The film revolves around a news anchor, who with the help of the titular goddess, tries to expose a fake godman. The film opened to positive reception upon its release.
