The Marvel mini-series Moon Knight, which was recently released on Disney+ Hotstar, has been the talk of the town. The show has been received warmly by the audience and they are eagerly waiting for the new episodes to be released soon. The series stars Oscar Isaac as the Moon Knight. It also features May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham, Ethan Hawke, Ann Akinjirin, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla and Gaspard Ulliel.
Interestingly, the executive producer Grant Curtis said that it was Kevin Feige, the chief architect of the franchise MCU, who came up with the idea for a series based on the comic book character of the same name. In an interview with PTI, he said one thing that all Marvel films and shows have in common is that they are all character studies. "At the root of these are character studies, whether it's a character piece of Peter Parker or Tony Stark or, in this case, Marc Spector and Steven Grant," he said. But the character in Moon Knight is significantly distinct from those seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), although there are some commonalities as well.
He further said Moon Knight is unique, a very complex character who is struggling with mental health issues and has a very chaotic life to juggle, but in many respects, he is very similar to previous Marvel products.
The show introduces Marvel fans to Marc Spector, a former mercenary and the merciless avatar of Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon and retribution, who realises that he has split personality and shares a body with him. The Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab, along with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, have directed the Marvel Studios series.
The show is available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and English and has been streaming on Disney+ Hotstar since March 30.
