Moonwalk new release date: This dance movie avoids a clash with Narivetta and Detective Ujjwalan

The makers of the Malayalam upcoming film, Moonwalk, revealed the postponement of its theatrical release. The dance film will be shown in theatres across the state on May 30.

The movie will now be released one week later than the previously stated release date of May 23, according to latest reports. Presumably, the postponement was made to avoid conflicts with Ranjith Sajeev's United Kingdom of Kerala, Sreenath Bhasi's Azadi, and Dhyan Sreenivasan's Detective Ujjwalan. Tovino Thomas' highly-anticipated socio-political drama, Narivetta, is also releasing on May 23. The makers of Moonwalk made the project's announcement a few years ago, but further details was not released until lately.

All about Moonwalk

The film is based on actual events of a group of young people who are inspired by Michael Jackson and works hard to learn break dancing. The trailer makes it clear that these youngsters overcome all barriers to learn this dance technique while going to school or doing odd jobs. They are also seen working really hard to master the dance steps so they can compete in an event. It also implies that the story is set in a 1980s little town. The primary characters have been hinted at in the teaser.

Debutante A K Vinod has directed Moonwalk, which will be shown in theatres by Lijo Jose Pellissery. Lijo is well-known for directing films like Angamaly Diaries and Naayakan. Additionally, he made brief appearances in films like Painkili and Sapthamashree Thaskaraha. The majority of Moonwalk's principal actors are up-and-coming. Shersha Sherief, the star of Little Miss Rawther, and Malaikottai Valiban-fame Manoj Moses are also playing a significant part in the film.

The film's music director is Prashant Pillai, who created music for Lijo Jose Pellissery's acclaimed work, Damn. The screenplay was co-written by A K Vinod, Mathew Varghis, and Sunil Gopalakrishnan. Moonwalk has been produced by Listin Stephen and Jasni Ahamad under the Magic Frames' banner.
