The makers of the Malayalam upcoming film, Moonwalk, confirmed its theatrical release date along with a trailer. The dance movie, which was announced three years back, will be screened in theatres on May 23.

If released on the said date of May 23, the film will be releasing in theatres along with Dhyan Sreenivasan's Detective Ujjwalan, Sreenath Bhasi's Azadi as well as Ranjith Sajeev-starrer United Kingdom of Kerala.
The movie, which centres on a group of youngsters who learn break dancing after being inspired by Michael Jackson, is reportedly based on real-life occurrences. It is evident from the trailer that these lads overcome all obstacles to pick up this dance style while attending school or working odd jobs. In order to compete, they are also spotted putting a lot of effort into learning the dance moves. It also suggests that the story takes place in a small town in the 1980s. The trailer has given a preview of the main characters.
Cast and crew of Moonwalk
The movie, which marks the directorial debut of A K Vinod, will be presented in theatres by acclaimed filmmaker, Lijo Jose Pellissery. Lijo is known for his directorials such as Naayakan and Angamaly Diaries. He has also appeared in cameo roles in films such as Sapthamashree Thaskaraha and Painkili. In a prom otional video, the filmmaker stated that Moonwalk offers a fresh energy to the film industry through a group of youngsters. Most of the main actors in Moonwalk are newcomers. Meanwhile, Little Miss Rawther fame Shersha Sherief is playing a prominent role in the movie.
Prashant Pillai, who composed soundtracks for Lijo Jose Pellissery's directorial Amen, is the music director of the movie. A K Vinod co-wrote the screenplay with Mathew Varghis and Sunil Gopalakrishnan. Ansar Sha is the cinematographer, and Kiran Das helmed the editing works. Listin Stephen and Jasni Ahamad have bankrolled Moonwalk under the banner of Magic Frames.
