Just around the time when the G20 summit is going on in India, a devastating news development has poured in from Morocco. The North African nation is in pain after more than 2,000 people died in a 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck in the High Atlas Mountains late Friday night.
Several notable personalities and celebrities across the globe have dropped their heartfelt condolences to those who have been affected by the tragedy. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, and numerous global leaders have extended their support to the quake-hit nation.
Cristiano Ronaldo – a world-famous footballer from Portugal – has also extended his help to those affected in the quake-hit nation. Reportedly, the 38-year-old footballer’s Morocco hotel has become a refuge site for survivors of the earthquake on Friday. “He has made his Pestana CR7 Hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco available for the same,” multiple reports claim this fact on sources.
Further, on Instagram, Ronaldo expressed, “My deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those who lost their lives in the earthquake in Morocco. Sending love and prayers to all in Morocco at this very difficult time.” Notably, Ronaldo is the most-followed Instagram user in the world with over 603 million followers.

Developments in India
In India, Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi – who hails from Morocco, wrote a heartfelt message for those affected in the tragedy. "The news of the earthquake in Morocco is extremely devastating! I’m just seeing the impact it has left on so many cities and many lives have been lost. My heart goes out to everyone right now," she wrote.
Nora added, "I’m praying for everyone’s safety! This is so scary. I thank God that our friends and families are safe! My condolences to anyone who has lost a loved one! Allayhfdkom ya Rab."
She even thanked PM Modi for offering support to the quake-hit nation.
Bollywood actor Sonu Sood also extended his condolences to those affected in the tragedy.
Reuters reports that the magnitude 7.2 quake, Morocco's deadliest in more than 60 years, struck in the High Atlas Mountains late on Friday night. Reportedly, it has killed over 2000 people in the country. Rescue and relief operations are going on a mass scale in the country.
