If Su From So was the major Kannada OTT release in early September, with Junior rounding it off at the very end, October too has a few exciting titles that audiences can look forward to. A bunch of films that came out before and after Ekka have made or are making it to OTT, but there’s still no word on what’s happening with Yuva Rajkumar’s sophomore film. In the first week, there are films like Gowrishankar (Sun NXT), Kreem (Namma Flix), but the bigger titles are in the second half of the month.

Actress-producer Rakshitha’s brother Raanna, who was introduced in 2022’s Ek Love Ya, got his sophomore film with Elumale, directed by newbie Puneeth Rangaswamy, and backed by filmmaker Tharun Sudhir. A period film, Elumale was a thriller revolving around an intense cross-border love story. The film’s major highlight was how deftly Puneeth blended three arcs into one cohesive narrative. The film also stars Priyanka Achar, Kishore, TS Nagabharana, Rakesh Maiya, Jagapathi Babu, among others.

The biggie in October, of course, is the Kantara prequel, Kantara Chapter 1. The OTT streaming rights had been picked up only months into production of the much-awaited film, so that’s not a big surprise. What is, is that the streamer has, reportedly, chosen a 4-week only window to bring the film to the platform in the 4 south languages. The 2022 original was on OTT only after 56 days, which is what was expected this time too. Rishab Shetty leads the cast and is joined by the likes of Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram, Prakash Thuminad, Pramod Shetty, Shaneel Gautham, Rakesh Poojary and many others.

The third Kannada original web series from Zee Network has been announced. This time around, it’s a thriller set in the 90s that explores divine folklore, directed by Devaraj Poojary, who made the Pruthvi Ambaar-led Matsyagandha earlier. Praveen Tej is in the lead, with more details set to be revealed in the days to come.
