After the year-end big releases Mark and 45, Kannada cinema releases of 2026 pick up pace in late January, when Duniya Vijay brings the first star-led film to theatres, namely, Landlord (on January 23). He is joined by Zaid Khan with Cult, while the following week has three smaller films, Amruthanjan, Valavaara and Chowkidar.
February kicks off with three confirmed releases – JC The University, Rakkasapuradhol and Non-Veg, followed by Niranjan Sudhindra’s Seetha Payanam, directed by Arjun Sarja. Dhanveerrah has booked the last weekend for his Hayagreeva. Kiccha Sudeep’s nephew Sanchith Sanjeev’s film Mango Pachcha was meant to be a Sankranti release, which was then postponed and the makers said will likely get a February 3rd or 4th week outing, but nothing’s been officially announced. Ninasam Sathish’s Rise of Ashoka is also said to be a February film, but there’s no date yet.

JC The University – February 6, 2026
JC The University is produced by actor Daali Dhananjaya and stars Prakyath Paramesh in the lead. Directed by Chetan Jayaram, the film is said to be a mass entertainer, set against a jail backdrop in keeping with the title – JC (Judicial Custody). A transformational journey of the protagonist spanning a decade, from school to his years in jail, the film explores life behind bars, inmate hierarchy and more.
Rakkasapuradhol – February 6, 2026
Raj B Shetty, who plays the main antagonist in Landlord, is the protagonist of Rakkasapuradhol, a mystery thriller in which he plays a cop stationed in a rural area, who is facing personal demons. The film has been directed by debutant Ravi Saranga, an associate of director Prem and is set in a village plagued by mysterious deaths. The film also stars Swathishta Krishna, Archana Kottige, among others.
Non-Veg – February 6, 2026
Non-Veg is a Tulu-Kannada bilingual comedy directed by K Sooraj Shetty and starring a cast comprising largely newbies. Atharva, who was in the Kannada film X&Y is the leading man, and is joined by Sanjana Burli. The supporting cast includes the likes of Pushparaj Bollar, Prakash Thuminad, Deepak Rai Panaje, Mime Ramadas, among others, most of who have become familiar faces thanks to the success of Su From So.
Seetha Payanam – February 14, 2026
Action King Arjun Sarja’s latest directorial venture features his daughter Aishwarya in the lead, along with Real Star Upendra’s nephew Niranjan Sudhindra. A love story between two vastly different people, the film also stars Sathyaraj, Kovai Sarala and Prakash Raj, while Dhruva Sarja has a pivotal cameo. Seetha Payanam will release in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu.
Hayagrriva – February 28, 2026
Vaamana actor Dhanveerrah’s Hayagrriva was launched two years ago and is now set for release. The film, which pairs him with Sanjana Anand, marks the directorial debut of Raghukumar. Not much is currently known about Hayagrriva, but the filmmaker had said that it “intertwines mythology and a crime set in modern times”.
