Most-awaited Malayalam OTT releases in May 2025 on JioHotstar, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sony LIV

After the big theatrical releases of Empuraan and Alappuzha Gymkhana, among others, the Malayalam OTT space is gearing up for the digital premiere of these hit films. Mohanlal’s Lucifer sequel will make its much-anticipated OTT release on JioHotstar on April 24, 2025. But several other big films are likely to be released in May. From Naslen’s Alappuzha Gymkhana to Basil Joseph-led Maranamass, check out the most-awaited Malayalam films that are expected to make their OTT releases in May 2025. 

Malayalam OTT releases in May 2025

Maranamass - TBA

Basil Joseph's films have made quite an impression this year. His Ponman, especially, won rave reviews after its OTT premiere on JioHotstar. Another film, Pravinkoodu Shappu, has also landed on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium, and is garnering viewers’ interest. Maranamass, which also features Rajesh Madhavan, Suresh Krishna, Siju Sunny, and Anishma Anilkumar, is also expected to land on OTT after its theatrical run. Basil Joseph plays Luke PP in the Sivaprasad directorial, which is noted for its quirky comedy.

Alappuzha Gymkhana - TBA

Premalu star Naslen leads Khalid Rahman's sports comedy, which features a bunch of plus-two students who compete in boxing competitions to secure grace marks for college admissions. The fun-filled film has emerged as the winner at the Vishu box office, and people are waiting for it to land on OTT. Lukman Avaran, Ganapathi S. Poduval, and Anagha Ravi are also part of this popular Malayalam film.

Bazooka - TBA

Mammootty’s game thriller Bazooka was also a Vishu release of 2025. Though the film made a solid start at the box office, it could not sustain the momentum and was overtaken by Naslen-led Alappuzha Gymkhana. An IPS officer, played by Gautham Vasudev Menon, seeks to track down the culprits behind heist operations in the state. Though the film received mixed reviews from critics, the OTT audiences would be looking forward to the film.

Dominic and the Ladies Purse - TBA

Another Mammootty-starrer, Dominic and the Ladies Purse, was the Malayalam megastar’s first release of 2025. But the Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial is yet to land on OTT, though some reports said that it will be headed to Prime Video. This film saw Mammootty playing a detective who seeks to solve a seemingly simple case but ends up unravelling bigger mysteries.  

Get-Set Baby - TBA

After the macho Marco, Unni Mukundan opted for the role of a male gynaecologist in Vinay Govind’s film. Nikhila Vimal plays Swathi, wife of Dr Arjun (Unni Mukundan). The film met with mixed reviews upon its theatrical release and was unable to repeat the box office success of Marco. 

Bromance - TBA

This fun-filled film is led by a bunch of younsters, including Mathew Thomas, Arjun Ashokan, Sangeeth Prathap, Mahima Nambiar, and Shyam Mohan. Kalabhavan Shajohn and Binu Pappu are also part of this film. After Shinto goes missing, his brother Binto and some friends team up to track him down. 

Hunt - TBA

Where to watch Manorama Max

OTT release date - TBA 

Bhavana headlines this Shaji Kailas directorial, touted to be a horror thriller. Though a 2024 release, the film is yet to land on OTT space. Manorama Max has confirmed that Hunt will be available for streaming soon, but is yet to announce an OTT release date. Bhavana plays Keerthy, who feels a supernatural presence around her after a dead body is found.
