April has been a month of mostly laid-back cinema for the Tamil film industry, which only saw sporadic releases. Apart from Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, there has been no star film release. But having said that, come May, you will be flooded with some good Tamil cinema, starting from Suriya’s Retro. Here are a few Tamil films that will be streaming on OTTs in May 2025.

Good Bad Ugly – Netflix – TBD
Good Bad Ugly is a Tamil actioner starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role. The film is directed by Adhik Ravichandran and produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Besides Ajith, the film also stars Trisha who is reuniting with Ajith after films like Mankatha and Vidaamuyarchi. Usha Uthup, Rahul Dev, Kingsley, Roadies Raghu, Pradeep Kabra, Harry Josh, KGF Avinash, Yogi Babu, Prasanna, Prabhu, Priya Prakash, Simran, Tinnu Anand, Sayaji Shinde, Jackie Shroff, Sunil, and Arjun Das are also part of the film.
Naangal – TBD
Naangal is a Tamil drama about a dysfunctional family. Directed by debutant Avinash Prakash, the film had a festival run and opened in theatres in April. It is about three teenage sons who live with their authoritative and abusive father. The film features new faces: Mithun V, Rithik M, and Nithin D playing the three children, while Abdul Rafe and Prarthana S play the parents. Naangal explores the lives of the three boys who have to live under the harsh regime of their father inside their sprawling estate house in Ooty. It is directed by Avinash Prakash.
Sumo – TBD
Sumo is an upcoming sports comedy film. The cast includes Mirchi Shiva, Yoshinori Tashiro, and Priya Anand in leading roles. Helmed by SP Hosimin, the film is about a sumo who gets washed up on the shore in Chennai. With an IQ level of a child, the sumo gets attached to a local man. Actors VTV Ganesh, Chetan, Besant Ravi, Srinath, and Yogi Babu are part of the film. Shiva and Priya have earlier shared screen space in the romantic comedy Vanakkam Chennai, and Kasethan Kadavulada.
Gangers – TBD
Gangers is an upcoming film, which might have an OTT release in May. Helmed by Sundar C, who gave back-to-back success with Aranmanai 4 and Madha Gaja Raja, is once again back with Gangers. He will star in the film along with famous comedian Vadivelu after a long time. Sundar C plays a PT master in the film, which also stars Catherine Tresa. Gangers is touted to be a commercial entertainer, much like other Sundar C films.
