Only 10 days are left for September to end, as we are soon prepping up to witness new theatrical releases in October. With the festive season coming, biggies are lined up from major languages to hit theatres. But that being said, there are also some interesting releases on OTTs to be scheduled.

Madharaasi – Prime Video
Madharaasi is an action thriller headlined by Sivakarthikeyan and directed by AR Murugadoss. Also featuring Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, and Shabeer Kallarakkal in supporting roles, it revolves around Raghu, a man with Fregoli delusion who becomes part of NIA’s mission to crack the crime syndicate trying to smuggle guns into Tamil Nadu. Madharaasi has music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Bad Girl – TBD
Bad Girl comes from debutant director Varsha Bharath and is a coming-of-age drama starring Anjali Sivaraman. The film traces a girl’s journey from high school into adulthood. Produced by Vetri Maaran and Anurag Kashyap, the film explores Ramya’s conflicts with strict parents, unrequited love, societal expectations, and her own internal chaos. It premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam where it won the NETPAC Award.
Bomb- TBD
Bomb is a political satire drama directed by Vishal Venkat. Starring Arjun Das, Shivathmika Rajashekar, Kaali Venkat, Nassar and Abhirami, the film is set in the village of Kaalakammaipatti where two sects, Kaalapatti and Kammaipatti, clash over belief and superstition. But what happens when a man dies but his body keeps farting, triggering a bizarre divine prophecy and chaos among two groups. The film blends satire, humour, and commentary on faith, identity, and community divisions.
Blackmail – TBD
Blackmail is a crime thriller starring GV Prakash and directed by Mu Maran. The film is about a series of blackmails that happens to various people who come from different walks of life. While a couple is being blackmailed after their daughter is kidnapped, the wife is blackmailed by her ex-lover. On the other hand, a young man is blackmailed by his boss after he loses his stash. Srikanth, Bindu Madhavi, Ramesh Thilak, Teju Ashwini and others are part of the film.
Thanal – TBD
Thanal is a crime thriller featuring Atharvaa Murali in the lead role. Directed by Ravindra Madhava, the film revolves around a bunch of new constables who are asked to go on rounds on their first day of job, and stumble upon a dangerous activity that is taking place in one of the settlements. Ashwin Kakumanu, Lavanya Tripathi, Bose Venkat, Azhagam Perumal and others are part of the cast.
Kiss – TBD
Kiss is a fantasy romantic comedy, helmed by choreographer Sathish Krishnan in his directorial debut. The film stars Kavin as Nelson, a musician who gains a supernatural ability through a magical book, the power being he can see the future of couples whenever they kiss. The film has Preethi Asrani play the female lead, along with actors Rao Ramesh, VTV Ganesh, RJ Vijay, Devyani, Kausalya and others.
Shakthi Thirumagan – JioHotstar
Shakthi Thirumagan is a political thriller written and directed by Arun Prabu Purushothaman. It marks Vijay Antony’s 25th film as actor, who has also produced and composed music. He plays the role of Kittu, a broker of sorts mediating through the secretariat, who commits a 6000-crore scam. Shakthi Thirumagan features actors Vaagai Chandrasekar, Sunil Kripalani, Cell Murugan, Trupthi Ravindra, Kiran, Rini, Riya Jithu and Master Keshav among others, in prominent roles.
Thandakaaranyam – TBD
Thandakaaranyam is a social drama written and directed by Athiyan Athirai, produced by Pa Ranjith. It stars V R Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan, with Riythvika, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Bala Saravanan and others in supporting roles. The film revolves around Murugan, a man from tribal community who after losing his police job due to political reasons, joins armed services, only to realise a bigger scam. The film tackles systemic oppression, tribal rights, forest protection, and fake surrender programs.
