Making her debut in Bollywood with the film Mirzya in 2016, Saiyami Kher has made a name for herself in the entertainment business by delivering fine performances in web series and films.

The actress, who is gearing up for the release of her new film 8 AM Metro, took time out to chat with OTTplay about the significance of Mother's Day for her.

Talking about her childhood memories of watching films together with her mother, Saiyami said, "When I was a child, I was not allowed to watch movies. But my mother and I would watch a show together called Small Wonder pretty much every day."

When asked if her mother ever scolded her, Saiyami said that she would for the usual reasons.

"I was a regular naughty kid who would love to eat chocolate. Of course, too much chocolate was a no-no for my mother, but there is nothing like too much chocolate or ice cream for a child. In fact, I still love to eat them, but now mummy does not scold (laughs). I never used to study and skipped homework to play out for a longer amount of time. I was more into sports, so I used to get scolded for not doing homework on time," said the Breathe: Into the Shadows actress.

So, which film of Saiyami's does her mother love the most?

"My mother is the best PR person to promote my work. She is always excited about every film of mine, even the ads. She will share everything on the family WhatsApp group, be it a trailer or song from my film. When my films release in theatres or even on streaming platforms, she makes sure that everyone in the family watches them. I love how enthusiastic she is to talk about my work (laughs). But I must mention that the one film and performance that surprised her or that she genuinely loved was Anurag Kashyap's Chok. Both my parents couldn't imagine that I would be able to pull off a character like that. It even made my mother cry," shared Saiyami.

So, what are the two qualities of her mother that Saiyami would like to imbibe? "My mother's skill of mingling with people and the way she values human relationships. She is very social and always connected with everyone in our family, even though 'outgoing' is not the exact word one can use to describe her. She knows the art of maintaining relationships with everyone. I love the way she always smiles, welcomes, and talks to everyone. She makes everyone feel important. Also, I want to imbibe my mother's nature of being sorted during crises. She is one of those people who prioritises things and does what's needed to be done in a very practical and logical manner. I think I can go on about her; I am her fan," said Saiyami.

The film 8 AM Metro releases in theatres on May 19.
