Mowgli is Roshan Kanakala’s second film, and he pinned a lot of hopes on this film, which was directed by Sundeep Raj of Color Photo fame. The romantic action drama was in the making for over one and a half years and hit the screens on December 13, 2025.

The film revolves around a young man whose dream is to become a police officer. He falls in love with a mute girl, while a ruthless cop confronts him and tries to take the heroine away. How the simple young man saves his lady love forms the core of the story. 

The production values, dialogues, and a few confrontation scenes in the second half have become talking points on social media.

Roshan Kanakala has expressed happiness over the appreciation for his performance. In a recent interview, he stated that Mowgli had a strong subject but failed to reach audiences during its theatrical run, and he is thankful that the romantic drama is finally getting its due.

Director Sandeep Raj's struggle continues

Director Sundeep Raj waited five long years to make his second film after the National Award-winning Colour Photo. He was initially supposed to direct a film with star hero Ravi Teja, but that project fell through at the last minute, prompting him to make a smaller film with Roshan Kanakala instead. 

On the other hand, Roshan’s career is yet to fully take off, as his debut film Bubblegum, now streaming on OTTplay Premium, also underperformed at the box office.
