Mr Bachelor was Love Mocktail fame Darling Krishna’s first release of the year. The film, which paired him with ‘Pushpavati’ fame Nimika Ratnakar, also had his wife Milana Nagaraj in a pivotal cameo. Like all of Krishna’s releases since Love Mocktail and barring its sequel, this one too tanked at the box office.

Krishna, who went on a signing spree after the success of his debut directorial, Love Mocktail, has been doing the same kind of romantic comedies, which are difficult to tell apart, because the actor’s characters in most of them are way too similar. In fact, he has been criticised for not choosing better scripts and not mixing it up as far as his looks in each of these films goes.

Mr Bachelor, which came close on the heels of Dil Pasand, had Krishna as Karthik, an eligible bachelor, whose horoscope advice is to marry the 31st girl he comes across in his search for a bride. Should he fail in this mission, Karthik will never get married, was the warning that came with that. Convincing girl number 31, though, proves easier said than done. Giri Shivanna, Chikkanna, Ayyappa P Sharma and Pavithra Lokesh, among others, were also a part of the film’s ensemble cast.

Sun Network had picked up the satellite and digital rights of the film early on and we are now told that a streaming date is on the horizon. According to the latest, SunNXT will have Mr Bachelor on its platform from March 31, making it the third Kannada film to drop this month, after Padavi Poorva and Once Upon a Time in Jamaligudda (March 17).

Krishna’s next after Mr Bachelor was PC Shekar’s Love Birds, which had a similar fate at the box office, but has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video. The actor still has a few films lined up from the lot he signed earlier, including Sugar Factory, Love Me or Hate Me and Kausalya Supraja Rama. He is yet to announce a new signing or directorial.
