Sanya Malhotra's film Mrs. is making all the right noise, for it reflects what a lot of Indian women go through in their day-to-day lives. While the actress perfected her role, she is completely different in her personal life with her boundaries clearly defined. Sanya speaks highly of self-love as she explains why she would never get into a relationship just because it has potential. Here's what she said...
When asked if she can spot a red flag early-on, Sanya told Free Press Journal, "I will never get into a relationship for the sheer potential of it." She added that being honest to her own self is her first priority and when she sees something not working out, she pulls herself out of the relationship. "I believe that I'm good at setting boundaries," Sanya says, taking pride in her good communication skills. The actress further shared that she would never settle for the crumbs by thinking that while some pieces are missing, the others fit. Speaking of loving herself too much to settle for less, she explains, "I respect myself and I will never let anyone cross the boundaries I have set for myself."
Sanya also calls herself a proud feminist who isn't out with the intent of smashing patriarchy through her movie Mrs. but rather help people understand that there is lack of education when it comes to intimacy. Calling it a taboo even today, she believes that the level of understanding needs to happen even beyond a woman's body.
Sanya took references from the people around her, especially her mother and friends, to bring Richa to life. She observed them and spoke to them for a few days to understand what an ideal Indian bahu would be like, in comparison to what women actually want and are like.
Mrs., touted to be the Hindi adaptation for The Great Indian Kitchen, is now out for streaming on Zee5. One can also watch the movie via OTTplay Premium.
