Mrunal Thakur: Every frame in Sita Ramam is like a painting

Mrunal Thakur, after a formidable start to her career in Hindi cinema with films like Super 30, Toofaan, Jersey, will be testing new waters in a new industry with her Telugu debut Sita Ramam. She pairs up with Dulquer Salmaan in this war romance helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi. Ahead of the film’s release on August 5, the makers unveiled a video featuring her interaction with actor, host Hemanth.

She said that her first day on the Sita Ramam set in Kashmir was indeed nerve-wracking and her legs were shivering. “I should thank Dulquer, Swapna Dutt, Ashwini Dutt and the entire team that made me feel so comfortable. There were times when I felt I couldn’t pull this off but I’m proud of myself that I managed it. Sita Mahalakshmi is a gracious character you don’t get everyday.”

“It was intimidating to be a part of a film that had many bigwigs like Dulquer, Rashmika, Sumanth, Bhumika among others. However, I feel blessed because every girl who wants to make her Telugu debut will hope for a role like Sita Mahalakshmi. The real test is to know if audiences like my performance in theatres. I’m confident they’ll love it,” she added.

The actress hopes she’ll be addressed as Sita Mahalakshmi after the release. “Sita Mahalakshmi is a character that’ll stay with me for the rest of my life. I had a great time shooting for it. Hanu sir, the cinematographers PS Vinod and Shreyaas made sure made sure every frame in the film looked like a painting. We’re on the verge of creating history. I can’t wait for the film to release.”

Mrunal labelled Dulquer a top-class performer, while referring to the producer Swapna Dutt as the most ambitious woman she’s ever met. “I can go on and on about Dulquer. He is a great co-actor, addresses his fans so well and remains humble despite his stardom. Swapna garu is always on the verge of pulling off something people can’t even foresee. She is ten steps ahead.”

“Hanu Raghavapudi is a king of spontaneity. He is a creative mastermind. PS Vinod is a magical artiste and the composer Vishal Chandrasekhar is very gifted,” Mrunal mentioned. She talked of her liking for Sumanth’s voice and called Tharun Bhascker a fun person. When asked to name an exciting choice between Bollywood and South Indian cinema, she opted for the latter.

“Given a chance I would like to go back to the times when Madhubala and Savithri were actresses. However, I would like to return soon as well because I can’t compete with stalwarts like them.
