Mrunal Thakur set to make her Cannes Film Festival 2023 debut, excited to 'showcase the talent that Indian cinema has to offer'

Leading actors from all over the world gather each year at the Cannes Film Festival to honour cinematic achievements. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Deepika Padukone, Sharmila Tagore, and Nandita Das are just a few of the stars who have represented our nation on the jury of this prestigious film festival. However, the gala has evolved into a fashion show as much as a film festival, with many of Bollywood's prominent actors making an appearance each year.

Today marks the beginning of the 76th edition of the festival, and Mrunal Thakur will be making her debut as a Grey Goose representative. The actor will be making public engagements on the French Riviera from May 17 to 19, and she has decided to wear designs by the creative duo Falguni and Shane Peacock.

The actor told Midday that she can't express how excited she is to be at the Cannes Film Festival. Mrunal is looking forward to meeting filmmakers from around the world, trying new things, and promoting the incredible talent that India's film industry has to offer.

Meanwhile, professionally, Mrunal co-starred with Aditya Roy Kapur in the 2019 Hindi version of the Tamil film Thadam, titled Gumraah. The movie was a financial failure and a box office bomb.

In the multi-starrer comedy Aankh Micholi, the actor will co-star with Abhimanyu Dassani and Paresh Rawal. After that, she'll be featured in the war drama Pippa alongside Ishaan Khatter. In addition, she worked with Huma Qureshi on the film Pooja Meri Jaan, produced by Maddock Films.

After making a successful debut in Telugu cinema with Sita Ramam, Mrunal is all set to romance Nani in his upcoming film, Nani 30. The movie, which Shouryuv is directing for the first time, will premiere on December 21, 2023.

Sharing her excitement, Mrunal had earlier said, "I'm sure elated and excited to be part of this project. It's a heartwarming story, and the team backing the project is immensely talented. I'm looking forward to working with Nani. It's an interesting curve, given I did the remake of Jersey last year, a film Nani originally starred in."
